#3 Connected Instructor

By Chi Chi

  • What does it mean to be a "connected" instructor?

I believe to consider yourself as a connected instructor is getting the likes of your student, building a good rapport, has strong relationship with their parents and children, and not a passive instructor. You have lots of things to tell stories to your students and showing sincere affection and love for them. I have a favorite teacher and she taught me about social media marketing. Ever since, I got comfortable with her asking some questions such as Canva. I really feel a connection between her and I because of our same effort and interest in digital marketing.

  • Should instructors create a PLN? Why? What are the benefits?  Should students have a PLN?

Yes, PLN allows instructors to increase their knowledge of technology to improve their relationship with other teachers and students, students need teachers who can connect to them, explore interests and passions and opportunities to impress themselves to the globe. Some benefits are to help you learn from diverse perspective, connect and access valuable resources, and share your ideas with others. Moreover, it will enhance your professional development and career opportunities. Yes, it is. A student should have PLN so they can have more networks and it is an opportunity to recognize them early.

Thank you for your blog post! I completely agree. Personal Learning Networks (PLNs) are indeed valuable for networking with others. I appreciate your insight into how they provide diverse perspectives, which is crucial for avoiding narrow-mindedness in teaching approaches. Also, kudos for the great graphics! :)

Absolutely! I've come to realize that students can also benefit from having a PLN account. Personally, I'm grateful to have learned about this concept early on, as it has allowed me to better prepare for my future as an educator. The knowledge that I can turn to this network in the future for ideas and assistance makes me feel hopeful and less anxious about what lies ahead. It provides a sense of reassurance, knowing that there's a supportive community where I can seek guidance and collaborate with others as I embark on my journey in education.
