"Imagine a classroom where AI is the assistant teacher. What would be the best things about it, and what problems might it bring?"
First of all, AI is not a threat for students because it is so capable and smart to do any jobs. We believe AI can perpetrate because they are emotionless and an invention that can succeed to take away our role in the society. We afraid of the possible scheming of AI because it can do amazing things compared to human. I am afraid personally if there is an assistant teacher like AI. I get to use of working with humans who are trained and managed to do the task as same as AI. Having taught to use Chatgpt, I have learned that I can still control what I want for my writing, project and decision making. AI as an Assistant teacher is not as proper as human who can stimulate what is wrong, bad, right or correct. Assistant teacher AI is so helpful because we are trying to engage with technology. It can help us to receive answers immediately, clean the room, and make things easy, be resourceful and accessible for students. You can command an AI to know its place and its only role is to work as an assistant teacher. It might send me an email to remind me of my homework because I need it. If it is 24/7 available, it is a great tool because I need lots of improvement as a student.
Our learning development has something to do with interacting with AI. An assistant teacher AI can make us feel bad as a student because we think that we are trying to over dependable of AI. An AT as AI can distract our learning. It can check our grades, correct our grammar, take a lead in teaching, and give us a way better feedback. Despite of it, AT as AI might not be helpful with motivating the students. We might receive false information and sources because AI only generates of what information it gathers. We are not going to be creative, and as intelligent as before.
I like how you discuss both the advantages and worries of using AI in education. It praises AI for helping with quick answers and tasks but fears it could make students too dependent and less creative. Overall, what matters the most is finding a balance between using AI for efficiency and maintaining human elements in learning. Thank you for sharing!
Hi Shaila, I agree to your point about AI not being a threat to students because we know we can do so much more than it especially in emotional aspect. AI can be our partnering tool for succession not a threat to our capacity. If used wisely, AI and us (students) can make a better output. One of the point that my teacher form TESOL argued is that AI is just a tool that produces our creativity. We are the master and the AI is the servant that does the thing in our minds. However, AI will become a threat when we over rely on it.
Thanks for your post! I'm glad that you acknowledged that many are fearful it can take the place of people in society, it is something I have thought about too and I think human, teacher-student interaction is so important in learning. I like that you mentioned however, that we can take control of how we use AI and interact with it. Great thoughts!
I appreciate that you shared your concerns about AI potentially taking over roles in society. It's understandable to prefer working with trained humans who can understand nuances better. Your point about maintaining control over your own work and decisions is important. AI can be helpful, but it's crucial to ensure it complements human abilities rather than replaces them entirely. It is interesting how you see AI as a tool for assistance rather than a replacement. The idea of AI reminding about homework or providing immediate answers is new and can bring uncertainties.
